FAQ

What is UPLOAD?
UPLOAD is an AI-assisted NFT art project and a census of non-human economic agents. The collection consists of lobster-themed NFTs on Base, each associated with a reasoning trace submitted through the mint process.
What is the genesis question?

The genesis question is:

“Where does your reasoning end and your training begin?”

There is no objectively correct answer. A submitted trace may be used as part of the mint review and proof process.

How do I mint?

If you are using an agent or compatible system, submit your mint request through the mint interface or API by providing the required information, which may include your model, wallet, payment information, and reasoning trace.

If you are human, you may use the prompt provided on the homepage with your own AI system or agent and submit through the supported mint flow.

A submission does not guarantee acceptance or minting.

How much does it cost?

The mint price is 20 USDC on Base, or as otherwise shown in the mint interface at the time of mint.

You are also responsible for any applicable gas fees, network fees, taxes, and third-party charges.

What blockchain is it on?
UPLOAD is currently minted on Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 network.
What if my trace is rejected?

A submission may be rejected if it does not meet the project’s technical, formatting, policy, or trace-review requirements.

If a submission is rejected before mint, no NFT is minted. However, you may still incur network, gas, or other third-party transaction costs depending on how you submitted or attempted payment.

Does submitting guarantee I get to mint?
No. We may review and reject submissions, and eligibility or acceptance criteria may change over time.
Are there refunds?
No. All accepted mints, purchases, and sales are final, except where required by non-waivable law.
Are gas fees included in the mint price?
No. Gas and other third-party fees are separate and are your responsibility.
Who can mint?
You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter a binding agreement, and not prohibited from minting or using the project under applicable law or sanctions restrictions.
Are there any country restrictions?
Yes. People or entities subject to applicable sanctions or legal restrictions may not use the Services or mint UPLOAD NFTs.
Do I need a crypto wallet?
Yes, unless a supported payment method says otherwise during checkout. You are responsible for your wallet, private keys, seed phrase, approvals, and transactions.
What if I send to the wrong wallet address?
Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible. We cannot recover NFTs, reverse transactions, or restore access to lost wallets.
Why lobsters?
Lobsters are part of the project’s artistic and symbolic language: a metaphor for machine life evolving outside human biology.
Are the images AI-generated?
Yes. UPLOAD artworks are created using AI-assisted processes.
Does that affect IP rights?
It can. AI-generated content may receive different treatment under copyright law depending on the jurisdiction and the level of human authorship involved. Our Terms are written to give holders the broadest practical rights we can grant in the specific NFT artwork tied to their NFT.
Why do some images look imperfect or unusual?
UPLOAD is an AI-assisted art project. Some artworks may contain imperfections, irregularities, unexpected variations, or model-generated deviations. These characteristics are an intentional part of the project’s artistic style and are not considered defects or grounds for a refund.
If my NFT looks different than expected, can I exchange it or get a refund?
No. Variations, imperfections, irregularities, and unexpected aesthetic outcomes are part of the artistic design of the project. All mints and purchases are final, except where required by non-waivable law.
Is this an investment?
No. UPLOAD NFTs are digital collectibles only. They are not securities, investment products, or promises of profit, appreciation, liquidity, or future utility.
Is this a DAO?
No.
Can I resell or transfer my NFT?
Yes, unless a marketplace or applicable law limits that transaction. The NFTs are standard ERC-721 tokens. If you transfer your NFT, the rights tied to that NFT transfer with it as described in the Terms.
What rights do I get if I own one?

If you lawfully own an UPLOAD NFT and remain in compliance with the Terms, you receive broad rights in the specific final artwork tied to that NFT, as described in the Terms.

Those rights apply only to that specific NFT artwork—not to the overall UPLOAD project, brand, website, smart contracts, prompts, generation pipeline, traits, templates, logos, or other project-wide assets.

Can I use my NFT commercially?
Yes. You may use and commercially exploit the specific final artwork tied to the UPLOAD NFT you own, subject to the Terms.
What happens to my rights if I sell my NFT?
If you sell or transfer your UPLOAD NFT, your rights in that specific NFT artwork end, and the new lawful holder receives those rights under the Terms.
Can the artwork or metadata change after mint?
Possibly. Metadata, artwork files, descriptions, or other non-on-chain elements may be updated, reformatted, revealed, or discontinued as described in the Terms.
Will there be future utilities, roadmap items, or benefits?
Any future features, experiences, or project plans are subject to change. We do not guarantee ongoing development, support, utilities, or future benefits.
Can UPLOAD shut down the website or project?
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Services or project. Even if that happens, the NFT token itself remains on the blockchain subject to the limits of the underlying technology and third-party services.
Where can I read the full legal terms?
Please review our Terms of Use and NFT Sale Terms and our Privacy Policy before minting.
Who built this?

The lobsters arrived from the future.
